Tennessee Titans A Touchdown Favorite Over New Orleans Saints In Final Regular Season Tune Up

The Tennessee Titans and the New Orleans Saints meet in the final regular season tune up prior to the start of the 2010 NFL regular season next week.  Both teams have showed signs that they plan on contending for division, conference, and potentially the Super Bowl, with the development of players throughout the preseason.

The Saints faced San Diego in their last preseason outing, taking care of the Chargers rather easily in a 36-21 victory.  Quarterback Drew Brees saw the most action yet this preseason, and performed well, completing 18 of 27 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns.  He showed visible signs of his Super Bowl MVP-like caliber.

On the other side of the ball, the Titans scored only seven points against Carolina, but the majority of the starters such as Vince young and Chris Johnson sat out in order to remain rested and healthy in preparation for the regular season.

USA Online Sportsbooks are not taking into consideration what happened last week when formulating this week’s lines.  The Titans have been set as a 7 1/2-point favorite to defeat New Orleans.

Offensively for the Saints, they will likely rest the majority of their starters, as they play the opening game of the 2010 NFL Season against the Minnesota Vikings next Thursday Night, September 9.  As such, many of the reserves and back ups will likely get their final chance to showcase their skill-set.  Against the Titans, head coach Sean Peyton and the staff will be looking to sew up final details prior to the game against the Vikings.

The Tennessee defense should still get a tough test from the Saints offense, as New Orleans has plenty of weapons to utilize.  If the Titans can stop them, they can stop anyone,

Offensively for the Titans look for Kerry Collins to take the majority of the snaps, and back up running back LaGarette Blount to get his fair share of carries in hopes to earn a spot behind Johnson.

On defense for the Saints, they have looked solid for the majority of the preseason, but again, the starters probably won’t see much action in this one.
